A little bit about this blog:
Whether you live on the Riviera, are visiting, or an armchair traveller, there are some amazing wines to be tasted from this region! Not just the usual Côtes de Provence rosés, either, which, granted, provide a perfect match for a hot summers evening! Did you know that hidden in the hills behind Sanremo and Imperia gorgeous whites made from Vermentino and Pigato are to be found? Or that Nice itself has its own appellation called Bellet, producing reds & whites & rosés? Even the islands off Cannes have vines that the monks living on the Ile Saint-Honorat put to perfect use.
Really, I know we don’t really need a reason to visit a vineyard, taste a few of their offerings, and come home with a few bottles for the collection, however my excuse is that it was time to learn more about the wonderful world-wide web and start a blog. I couldn’t think of a better subject, and an opportunity to discover this awesome corner of the world a little more!
A little bit about me:
I’m a girl from Sydney’s who discovered Nice when my big sister moved here many years ago. One of the big novelties as an Australian living in this fair city is that I can cross a border in less than 40 minutes to be in a new country (gelato for afternoon tea or Ventimiglia for an apéro anyone?). Over seven years ago I found myself here on a one way ticket and promptly and somewhat fortuitously fell into a role in a local wine company. I feel fortunate to have turned one of my favourite leisure activities into a career and am now a freelance wine professional on the Côte d’Azur. I teach and write about wine, lead tours through local vineyards and sell and drink a few bottles of the stuff as well! You can connect with me on LinkedIn.
However the world of wine is not static and there is so much to know! So I figured this blog will give me a legitimate reason to keep tasting, writing and learning. Hopefully for anyone out there in cyberspace who happens to stumble upon this site, it will also serve as inspiration for voyages of discovery into the wonderful wine world of the Riviera of your own!
